Trade Review

3/14/25 $MES Based on my daily chart markup, I was looking for the price to push into Wednesday's candle which became a D-OB and then potentially reject. I was expecting to see the news point to negative results on the 10am release. I was right on this and not only did they come in negative but, they came in heavily bearish. (Reset, focus, and return to executing disciplined setups.)

What threw me off on this trade was that the overnight price action traded into the D-OB, we had not wick on today's candle, and the news was overexerted as unplanned news came in regarding the vote on the government shutdown that all but confirmed that the bill would pass to allow for the CR to continue funding. This news took the selloff that was triggered by the Consumer Sentiment and Inflation news as balanced price and drove the market back up. My first setup was based on the sell off after the news was released. At the time of the trade there was no mention on the status of the vote so I traded as usual. I took the sell below a LTF 15m-FVG and the goal was to take the wick made on the news and then the low of day as targets. I was using the candle high of the formed 15m-FVG as a SL and once I entered the trade, I noticed that there may be a failure. Price traded near the wick low but stalled and failed to take it out. I went heavy in each of my accounts and I didn't want to dance around seeing the way price failed to trade through the wick. I went 20 micro contracts (2 mini contract) in my [broker] (earn [amount redacted]per account to become funded in each account) account for [amount redacted]per account ([amount redacted]total with a [amount redacted]left til funded) and I went 50 micro contracts (5 mini contracts) on MES in my [broker] (earn [amount redacted]to become funded) account for [amount redacted]total with [amount redacted]left til funded) and took a 5:1 setup overall, however, after realizing that this may fail, I took off the whole size around 1.2 R. I was right to do so because even though the news of the vote hadn't been released the market continued to buy up.
Since this was my first trade of the week, the first trade on these new combine accounts, I wanted to make sure that this was a win on a Friday. Over all three accounts, today was a 15% return on the total [amount redacted]goal where today's total profit was [amount redacted]across all accounts.
