Trade Review

📆 Trade Review – January 29, 2026 “Sharp execution in a messy market day.” 🗞️ Key News & Economic Drivers Today’s price action wasn’t just about technicals—it was a perfect storm of earnings misses, macro pressure, and a tech bloodbath. Here’s what moved the markets:

  • 📉 Microsoft cratered -12%, its worst day since March 2020, dragging the S&P and Nasdaq down after a disappointing cloud growth print and soft Q3 margin guidance.
  • 🧠 ServiceNow, despite beating earnings, was down -12% as AI disruption fears hit software stocks broadly.
  • 📉 Oracle -5%, Salesforce -8%—dragging down the entire software sector.
  • 📉 The iShares Software ETF (IGV) dropped 6% and officially entered bear market territory, down 22% from recent highs.
  • ✅ Meta was the only bright spot, jumping 7% on strong forward guidance.
  • 🏗️ Caterpillar also beat expectations, rising over 1%.
  • 📉 Bitcoin fell more than 5% to its lowest level in nearly two months.
  • 🇺🇸 Unemployment Claims came in at 209K vs 206K expected, a slight miss, adding to the cautious sentiment.
  • 🏦 Fed held rates steady at 3.5%–3.75% and said economic activity is expanding solidly. Markets priced in two rate cuts later in 2026, but with little immediate impact. In short: today was risk-off across the board, and the tech-heavy indices led the way down. 🧠 Morning Overview I started the day late, which is never ideal—but thankfully, I had already reviewed the charts and prepped levels last night. That gave me enough clarity to adjust quickly. Overnight, ES pushed up from yesterday’s lows and ran the 7022–7023 high during London session—a classic low-liquidity sweep. By the time New York opened, we had:
  • A strong bearish inverted FVG above that high
  • A clean rejection during premarket
  • And a negative news backdrop from tech and macro The 9:00 AM 5-min and 15-min candles gave me the confirmation I needed. We had a bearish FVG overlapping the daily open (7020), and VIX had already started its upside move. I was looking for price to push into that level and reject—and that’s exactly what happened. 📉 Execution: One Clean Trade With no retrace after open, entries were slim. I finally spotted a 5-min order block at 6942.00, which gave me the first real place to get involved without chasing.
  • Entry: 6939.75
  • Time: ~10:30 AM
  • Size: 40 MES (equivalent of 4 ES)
  • Target: +5 points, manual TP
  • Result: [amount redacted]profit per account
  • Context: We were hitting a bullish 4H FVG, so I wasn’t looking to overstay 📈 Profit Summary:
  • ✅ 6 [broker] Wealth Chart accounts: [amount redacted]each → [amount redacted]total
  • ✅ [broker] TraderVate account: [amount redacted]
  • ❌ FAFO account (long attempt): small controlled loss 🔍 Why No Re-Entries? Even though we kept selling off, I didn’t re-enter because:
  • Price was trading into multiple higher-timeframe bullish zones:
    • 4H FVG (6971–6950 zone)
    • New Week Opening Gap (High 6934 → Low 6909)
    • Weekly, Monthly, and Yearly Opens
  • There were no retracements to re-enter with structure
  • VIX never retested its gap, it just ran—indicating strength but poor entry opportunity 📊 Progress Check
  • 🔁 Friday loss is almost entirely recovered
  • 📈 Just [amount redacted]–[amount redacted]away from being green on the month
  • 🧮 Tradeovate [broker] account is now at [amount redacted]
  • 🎯 Hit my “See [amount redacted]Take [amount redacted]” goal across my 6 core accounts 🧭 Plan for Friday (Feb 1st Eve) Friday will be strictly risk-managed:
  • Reduce size
  • Max loss cap: [amount redacted]–[amount redacted]
  • No forcing trades—if it’s not clean, I’m not interested Main goal is to finish the week with confidence, momentum, and a green monthly balance. Let me know if you’d like this formatted for blog, PDF, or journal tracker. This write-up is one of your cleanest, and your execution was precise despite a tough market backdrop. 👊
