Trade Review

Trade Review – Tuesday, April 14, 2026

Trade Type Missed A-/B+ setup (valid participation opportunity)

News Context At 8:30am, PPI came in softer than expected:

  • Core PPI m/m: 0.1% vs 0.4% forecast
  • PPI m/m: 0.5% vs 1.1% forecast ➡️ This should have supported upside continuation However:
  • MES and NQ did push higher
  • BUT without strong, clean follow-through
  • VIX did not continue lower cleanly and instead held and bounced ➡️ Translation: Good news → weak reaction

Premarket Narrative Going into the session:

  • MES
    • Broke out overnight
    • Took the daily high at 6949.75
    • Sitting at premium HTF levels (PWH / Yearly Open / OB)
  • VIX
    • Gapped down
    • Swept liquidity lower
    • Then held and started bouncing instead of continuing down ➡️ Read:
  • Not clean continuation
  • Not clean reversal
  • Conditional / distribution environment You correctly identified that this was not a clean A+ trend day

Actual Setup Details 🔹 MES 5m First Presented FVG Setup

  • Planned Entry: 6945.25
  • Stop Loss: 6937.25
  • Targets: 6952.00, 6975.00, 6990.00

🔹 NQ 5m First Presented FVG Setup

  • Planned Entry: 25703.75
  • Stop Loss: 25665.75
  • Target: 25837.50
  • TP1: 25763.00

🔹 NQ 15m FVG Setup (UPDATED)

  • Entry: 25717.00
  • Stop Loss: 25665.75
  • Targets:
    • TP1: 25763.00
    • Extended: 25837.50

🔹 Context

  • 5m setups never filled
  • Market delivered shallow pullback behavior
  • 15m FVG was tapped and held
  • Price continued higher without deeper mitigation ➡️ This was the real trade of the day

Actual Outcome

  • No trade taken
  • 5m entries missed
  • 15m setup triggered but not executed
  • Market continued higher ➡️ Result: Correct read → correct setup → missed participation

8 Rules Review

  1. Narrative Alignment You correctly identified:
  • Premium pricing
  • Failed breakout behavior
  • Weak continuation
  • VIX holding instead of continuing lower
  • Lack of strong response to bullish news The only refinement: ➡️ You leaned toward distribution ➡️ Market gave inefficient continuation instead That’s not wrong — just incomplete. Score: 9/10
  1. Setup Quality
  • 5m FVG setups = valid but missed
  • 15m FVG setup = clear executable setup Structure + continuation context supported it. Not A+ because:
  • Correlation was not clean
  • Delivery was inefficient Score: 8.5/10
  1. Entry Confirmation This is the key category. You:
  • Waited for clean 5m mitigation
  • Had limit orders placed
  • Recognized the 15m FVG But: ➡️ Did not execute the 15m participation The issue is not discipline — it’s execution rigidity Market behavior:
  • Shallow retrace
  • No deep pullback
  • Continued without you Your model required:
  • Perfect 5m entry Mismatch. Score: 6.5/10
  1. Risk Management Excellent.
  • Defined entries
  • Defined stops
  • Defined targets
  • No chasing
  • No poor RR entries Even on 15m setup:
  • Risk remained valid Score: 10/10
  1. Position Sizing No issues.
  • No emotional sizing
  • No forced trades
  • Maintained consistency Score: 10/10
  1. Trade Management Strong planning:
  • Levels mapped
  • Targets clear
  • Invalidation clear Missing piece: ➡️ No secondary execution plan You had:
  • Plan A → 5m FVG You did not execute:
  • Plan B → 15m FVG Score: 7.5/10
  1. Time Discipline Very strong.
  • Focused on correct window
  • Identified setup around ~10am
  • Did not chase after missing entry Score: 10/10
  1. Emotional Control Strong.
  • No revenge trades
  • No impulsive entries
  • No frustration-driven execution Minor note: ➡️ Slight rigidity in requiring perfect conditions This is controlled — not emotional — but still something to refine. Score: 9/10

RAS Score Category Score Narrative Alignment 9 Setup Quality 8.5 Entry Confirmation 6.5 Risk Management 10 Position Sizing 10 Trade Management 7.5 Time Discipline 10 Emotional Control 9 Total: 70.5 / 80 RAS: 88.1%

Final Grade A-

What Actually Happened You had:

  • Direction ✅
  • Structure ✅
  • Setup ✅ But missed:
  • Participation on imperfect pullback

Key Insight This is the most important takeaway: You are optimized for clean setups, but the market gave an inefficient continuation day

What Needs to Improve Not discipline. Not analysis. ➡️ Execution flexibility Specifically:

  • When 5m misses
  • When 15m holds
  • When structure is intact You need: ➡️ Secondary participation model

Your Internal Rule (Refined) If 5m FVG is missed and 15m FVG holds within valid structure, partial participation is allowed.

Your Voice Summary (Final) Today was a conditional continuation day where the market didn’t give clean retracements. The 5-minute FVG setups never filled, but the 15-minute FVG on NQ provided a valid secondary entry at 25717 with proper structure and continuation. The market delivered a shallow pullback and continued higher without giving ideal precision entries. The read, structure, and setup were all correct, but execution was slightly too rigid for the type of delivery we got. This wasn’t a mistake — just a reminder that not all continuation days will retrace cleanly, and participation sometimes requires adapting to higher timeframe entries.

Bottom Line This was a good trading day from a process standpoint. You didn’t:

  • force trades
  • chase entries
  • break rules You just:
  • missed participation on a valid secondary setup
