Trade Review

Trade Review – Wednesday, April 15, 2026 Trade Type B-/C+ setup → Executed appropriately with reduced risk

Premarket Narrative (Reality Check) You called this day perfectly:

  • MES pushing higher without VIX confirmation
  • VIX stuck in range / not breaking down
  • HTF showing hesitation (wicks, dojis, opposing candles)
  • News = bullish tone, but unstable delivery ➡️ Key line: “Looks bullish… but not trustworthy” And that’s exactly what the market gave you.

What Actually Happened

  • VIX made a real move down (18.10 → 17.74)
  • MES barely responded initially → broken correlation
  • 9:30:
    • Took highs → failed
    • Dropped → reclaimed
    • Inverted FVG → flipped back bullish
  • Then:
    • Both sides of liquidity were swept
    • Structure became reaction-based, not directional ➡️ This turned into: A rotational, inefficient, trap-heavy session

Your Trade Setup

  • Based on:
    • Reclaim of inverted FVG (7015–7016 zone)
    • Reaction off DOP (~7003.75)
    • Expectation of continuation after VIX weakness Execution
  • Entry 1: ~7015 → scratched (stop moved too early)
  • Entry 2: ~7014.75 → held
  • Partial: 7030.50
  • Final stop: trailed to ~7027.25 ➡️ Outcome: Profitable trade in a bad environment

8 Rules Review

  1. Narrative Alignment This is elite. You identified:
  • Broken correlation
  • Liquidity sweeps both sides
  • No clean continuation
  • HTF hesitation
  • News not translating cleanly ➡️ You even said: “Even taking a trade today was just participation” That’s awareness most traders don’t have. Score: 10/10
  1. Setup Quality You graded it correctly: “B or C setup” And it was. Why:
  • No clean correlation
  • No strong displacement
  • Entry came from reaction, not clean model BUT:
  • Structure was valid enough for participation Score: 6.5/10
  1. Entry Confirmation Mixed—but honest. Good:
  • Waited for reclaim of FVG
  • Let candle close before entry
  • Didn’t blindly limit in Issue:
  • First trade:
    • Stop moved too early → scratched
  • Slight hesitation / re-entry timing not optimal Reality: This wasn’t a clean entry environment anyway. Score: 7/10
  1. Risk Management This is where you were professional.
  • Traded YOLO account only
  • Reduced size (2 micros)
  • No primary accounts
  • Adjusted expectations based on conditions ➡️ This is EXACTLY how you protect capital long-term. Score: 10/10
  1. Position Sizing Perfect.
  • Scaled down appropriately
  • Matched sizing to setup quality
  • Didn’t overcommit in chop Score: 10/10
  1. Trade Management Strong—but slightly defensive. Good:
  • Took partial at 7030.50
  • Locked in profit
  • Trailed stop Could improve:
  • Trailed a bit tight due to fear of giving back profit And you said it yourself: “I didn’t want to give back too much” That’s understandable given the environment—but it did cost upside. Score: 8/10
  1. Time Discipline Very strong.
  • Waited for NY session
  • Didn’t force pre-market trades
  • Engaged during valid window Score: 10/10
  1. Emotional Control This is one of your best days mentally.
  • Recognized poor conditions
  • Didn’t force trades
  • Reduced size
  • Stayed objective
  • Even validated your read against ICT (without bias) ➡️ That’s confidence + control. Score: 10/10

Final Grade A-

The Real Story (Most Important Part) This wasn’t about the trade. This was about decision quality under uncertainty. You did 3 things that matter most:

  1. You downgraded the day correctly
  2. You adjusted risk accordingly
  3. You still executed without forcing That’s how you survive—and scale.

What You Did Exceptionally Well

  • Didn’t trust the breakout without VIX
  • Recognized correlation breakdown early
  • Avoided main accounts
  • Took controlled participation
  • Managed expectations correctly

Where You Improve (Small Tweaks)

  1. Stop Management (Early Scratch)
  • First trade:
    • You protected too early
  • Adjustment:
    • Let structure breathe before moving stop
  1. Trailing Logic
  • You tightened because of environment (valid)
  • But:
    • Could use structure-based trailing instead of fear-based
  1. Execution Clarity in Chop New rule for you: If both sides of liquidity are swept pre-9:30 AND correlation is broken → only trade partial size OR sit out. You followed it instinctively—now just make it systematic.

Your Voice Summary (Clean) Today was a very choppy, low-quality environment with broken correlation across VIX, MES, and NQ. Even though VIX made a real move lower, MES didn’t respond cleanly, which created a lack of confirmation. Both sides of liquidity were swept before the open, and price action became reaction-based instead of directional. I correctly identified this as a B/C setup day and adjusted by trading smaller size in a secondary account. I executed a valid setup off the reclaim of an inverted FVG and managed the trade well, taking partials and trailing stops. Overall, this was not a day to be aggressive, and I handled it appropriately by prioritizing capital preservation and controlled participation.

Bottom Line This is what professional trading looks like:

  • You didn’t try to be a hero
  • You didn’t force A+ setups
  • You respected market conditions
  • You still extracted profit
