Trade Review
2/28/25 $MES Started today out with mostly a flat trading day. I missed the 1m chart selloff setup that I was trying to get after the PCE news release was indecisive. Once I missed entry I tried scalping into the sell a few times near the original entry but price had reversed and we weren’t showing a clear direction on the day and we mostly moved sideways with sudden moves outside the range to take out the recent highs and lows of the day. I traded small and mostly went into my trades lightly on the contract sizes and I didn’t risk much knowing that any setup I took wasn’t the optimal move.
The afternoon came around and there was news of Trump and the Ukrainian president speaking and it went horribly wrong. I took that as a negative and sold on the news. I took 13 points out of the move while risking 4 and called it a day. Profits across all 3 accounts came in around [amount redacted]. The move didn’t play out as expected so I had my trailing stop taken out at just below BE. I had already taken out the majority of the trade, 5 initial micro contracts, as I closed 4 of them and left a single contract in to try to catch the move if we broke lower. We didn’t get the follow through and this triggered a buy up which wasn’t expected given the time of day and the fact that the news was negative.

Good: I thankful to be following my rules and even if I missed the initial setup, I handled myself well. Considering that I was down last week and now to be close to finishing the combines is a testament to my strategy and patience.
Bad: The meeting this morning caused me to be hesitant about going into my trades. The meeting is too distracting and there are too many times that I can’t focus or loose focus while I’m trading. I want to trade during other hours but this is the most liquid time of the day.
